The problem with traditional browser bookmarks is that they are only available if you're using a specific browser on a specific device.

 

delicious - primarily used to store your bookmarks online, access the same bookmarks from any computer and add bookmarks from anywhere

     

     

  • Using tags, you can organize and remember your bookmarks and access them from home, school, anywhere.

Getting started with del.icio.us -

  1. Register for a delicious account. You will need:

     

    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • E-mail address
    • Password
      • at least 6 characters required
      • at least one letter and one symbol or number required
      • may not contain any part of your username or full name

         

  2. Install the bookmark buttons on your browser
  3. Import your favorites/bookmarks to delicious
     

To save a site to delicious

  • Click your delicious browser button. This will open a form that has four fields, and two should be pre-filled:  url and description.
  • url – the web address
  •  Description – taken from the title of the web page.  HINT:  If you highlight descriptive text on the page before posting, it will automatically fill in as a more detailed description.
  •  Add notes (optional)
  • Choose or create tags - tags are keywords or metainformation, which you will use to organize your bookmarks
  • Save
  • To quickly view or access to your bookmarks, click the little dropdown arrow on the browser button  OR go to http://delicious.com/username but first replace "username" with your username.
